Help

How to install Seasoned, bring in your own folders, turn anything you build in Premiere into a reusable preset, and fix the few things that can go wrong.

Install

The installer sets up the Seasoned Plugin Manager. The Manager then installs the panel into Premiere.

  1. Get the download link by email and open it on your Windows PC, then run the installer.
  2. Close Premiere Pro. The Manager can't install into Premiere while it's running.
  3. In the Manager, click Install next to Seasoned for Premiere Pro. Windows asks for permission once. Choose Yes: Seasoned adds two small components to Premiere's plug-in folder so it can place items on your timeline.
  4. Optionally, install packs from the Products list in the Manager, like Seasoned Transitions.
  5. Open Premiere Pro and go to Window › Extensions › Seasoned Library. Dock the panel wherever you like.
Windows says "Windows protected your PC"?

That's Windows SmartScreen. It shows for new apps from independent developers that don't have a paid certificate yet. Click More info, then Run anyway.

Your library

Everything you use in your edits, in one panel, in every project.

The sidebar has two parts: My Folders, which are folders you add yourself, and Seasoned Packs, the packs you've installed from the Manager.

  • Add any folder. Click Add folder in the sidebar and pick a folder anywhere on your PC: music, sound effects, footage, overlays, your downloads folder. It stays in the panel across every project. Remove it with the × next to its name; that only removes it from the panel, never from your disk.
  • Supported files: video (MP4, MOV, WebM, MXF, AVI, MKV, M4V), audio (WAV, MP3, AIFF, FLAC, M4A, OGG), images (PNG, JPG, GIF, WebP, BMP, TIFF), and Seasoned presets.
  • Preview, then drag. Preview anything right in the panel, then drag it straight onto the timeline. No importing into a bin first.
  • Search and favorites. Search your whole library from the box at the top of the sidebar. Star anything you use often; the star next to the search box shows only your favorites.
  • Your projects stay self-contained. The first time you use a file from a pack, it's copied into a Seasoned Files folder beside your saved project. Update a pack, uninstall Seasoned, or send the project to someone who's never heard of it, and it still opens fine.

Make your own presets

Build a transition or overlay once in Premiere, then drop it into any project, at any resolution.

  1. Open one of your own folders in the panel (presets can't be saved into packs) and click Create preset at the end of the grid. Pick Transition Template or Overlay Template.
  2. Seasoned opens a template sequence in Premiere. Build your effect on the adjustment layer with Premiere's own tools, exactly the way you normally would. A transition has a sequence marker named cut where the edit point goes; build either side of it.
  3. Click Save & update preview in the bar at the bottom of the panel. Seasoned saves the preset and renders a preview for its card. Save without preview is in the arrow menu beside it, and Discard changes throws the edit away.

Changing a preset later

Right-click any of your presets and choose Modify preset. It reopens in Premiere, and you save it the same way. The same menu can generate, replace or delete its preview, or delete the preset. Right-click one of your folders to regenerate every preview in it at once.

Transition or overlay?

A sequence marker named cut at the edit point makes a preset a transition. With no marker, or a marker with any other name, it's an overlay. You can edit one preset at a time.

Updates

Seasoned keeps itself up to date. Each time you open the panel, it quietly checks for updates in the background and installs them: the panel, your packs, and the Manager. There's nothing to reinstall.

When a new version of the panel has been installed, the Menu button at the top of the panel says Restart Premiere to update. The new version runs from the next time you start Premiere Pro.

Prefer to update by hand? Switch off Auto-update in the Manager's menu, and use its Update buttons instead.

Troubleshooting

I can't find the panel in Premiere.
It's under Window › Extensions › Seasoned Library. If it isn't listed, close Premiere, open the Manager and check that Seasoned for Premiere Pro shows as installed. Install it (or click Repair), then open Premiere again.
The Manager shows "Repair".
One of the components Seasoned adds to Premiere is missing or out of date. Close Premiere Pro, click Repair, and choose Yes when Windows asks for permission.
Dragging onto the timeline doesn't work, or it says the command bridge isn't running.
Same fix: close Premiere, click Repair in the Manager, then restart Premiere. Premiere only loads those components when it starts.
The panel says "Seasoned Manager required".
The panel needs the Manager installed. It checks in through it automatically whenever the panel opens, so this usually means the Manager was uninstalled, or your PC has been offline for a couple of weeks. Reinstall or open the Manager while you're online, then reopen the panel.
The Manager says to close Premiere before updating.
That's only for updates you start by hand from the Manager. Automatic updates install while Premiere is open and take effect when you restart it.
Where did my dragged-in files actually go?
Files from packs are copied into a Seasoned Files folder next to your saved project, which is what keeps the project portable.
